Gert Koen
Gert has spent more than 20 years in the telecommunications industry fulfilling the CFO role at Vox Telecom and then moving into a group CFO role for the Vivica group. He is one of the most experienced telecoms professionals in South Africa. Gert is a keen collaborator, and meticulous analyser, always looking for data and insight that can trigger growth opportunities and long-term returns. He believes in the power of connecting diverse skills and expertise to create unique solutions to complex problems.
Cassim Motala
Cassim has spent a decade in the internet gaming world in various roles, pioneering online payments and risk solutions for the industry. Thereafter, he joined Rand Merchant Bank in their private equity business through the Class Of Program. Cassim has worked on numerous transactions, such as investments into the Studio 88 group, WACO international, Multiknit, Vox Telecom, Kagiso Strategic Investments, MineWorkers Capital Partners and Ollerai Investments (East African platform). From 2017-2023 he served as the Co-head of RMB Ventures. During his 6 years at the helm of the business, Assets Under Management grew by 50% to ZAR9bn at market value, while generating class leading returns both in IRR (>25%) in spite of COVID. He was involved in four 10x money deals in his career. He was a member of the Corporate and Investment Banking Exco (6 years), Investment Committee (10 years) and involved in various bank fund initiatives (social and impact).
